Inauguration of Tanjong Rhu station with Bachy Soletanche Singapore!

In early summer 2024, seven new Singapore Metro stations opened their doors to users, marking an important milestone in the completion of phase 4 of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).

One of these is the Tanjong Rhu station, built with its associated tunnels by Bachy Soletanche Singapore in partnership with Wai Fong Construction Pte Ltd. Started in 2016, the project required the implementation of several processes:

  • 75m-deep diaphragm walls for the station,
  • A cut-and-cover tunnel with diaphragm walls and barrettes,
  • Piles made by our subsidiary Foundation Alliance,
  • Soil improvement using a hybrid combination of Deep Soil Mixing and jet grouting,
  • Civil engineering.

During this project, the site teams faced a number of challenges. The main one? The metro tunnel passes just 37cm from the Kallang-Paya Lebar (KPE) underground highway tunnel and 3m above Tanjong Rhu Road. To guarantee the structural integrity of the structure, our teams implemented meticulous planning and execution.

To celebrate this success, Bachy Soletanche Singapore organized a family day full of good humor and laughter entitled “Ride with Us”. All participants took the train from Gardens by the Bay station, also built by Bachy Soletanche Singapore and open to the public in November 2022, to the new Tanjong Rhu station.
